2023: Widows Want Ex-Beauty Queen To Represent Women In NASS

A cross section of women and widows from Nasarawa Eggon, Wamba and Akwanga Local Governments of Nasarawa State have called on a former beauty queen, Ambassador Beauty Sudar Aliyu to contest for the position of House of Representatives in 2023 general elections.

The women who spoke on the sideline of Widows, Youths and the less privilege outreach organised by Ambassador Sudar Aliyu in Akwanga, said this call became necessary considering her concern for women and children in the area.

They further appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to ensure Hon.Beauty gets the necessary support so as to actualise her ambition.

One of the widows, Mrs Andoka Elijah told our correspondent that “Beauty is a God sent to the people of Nasarawa Eggon, Wamba and Akwanga Local Governments, what she is doing for us is unprecedented, we want her to contest in 2023 to represent us at the House of Representatives in Abuja”.

Speaking during the event, Beauty said her motivation to empower women was drowned from her love and concern for women, especially widows.

She said the programme is an annual event which she use to empower and support women, less privilege around her.

“The reason we’re here today is to celebrate women, and in particular widows, women all around the world, especially women in Nasarawa state.

“This is a programme we’ve been doing for three years consistently. And last year. I said one particular word that women are the lights of the world, empower a woman, you empower a community, you empower a society and you empower a world at large”.

On how many women she is supporting, Hon. Beauty said “We have over 1000 women just like you see, we still have some left, that did not even get some of the items that we share.

“So the items that we share today includes rice, wrappers and a cash to support their business as well as sowing machines”.

On whether she has a political ambition, she answered in affirmation and added”But what we did today has nothing to do with politics. I made mention of this when the distribution was going on.

“Because I know some people will misquote this and say because she’s looking for a political office and that is why she’s doing this, I am not doing this because I am looking for a political office.

“The passion I have for women, I want to see them grow. I want to see them better in our society. So this is not for political reasons. I’ve been doing this for the past three to four years. Next year I will still do and the year after I will still do”.
