A business mogul, Chief Chinwendu Omaka who donated after building a rector for the work of God said that his work for God and humanity was not because he is too rich but that he follows the directive of the Holy Spirit.
Omaka single handedly built a rector for a Catholic Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Azuituma, Oshiegbe in Ezza North local government area of Ebonyi state.
The Curate was inaugurated on Sunday by the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, Most Rev Peter Nworie Chukwu.
At the Inauguration, Omaka noted that he has benefited a lot while building for God.
“What I did was not because I have the money or that I’m the best, but what the spirit of God in me directed me to do. But the truth is that I have found God’s favor while doing his work.
“I don’t see myself as a philanthropist or doing things to make the people happy but doing the work of God as he directs me”.
Meanwhile, Bishop Chukwu during his sermon called on the politicians and well to do in the society to always appreciate God by serving humanity.
Chukwu noted that most people miss the blessings of God in life because of man selfishness.
The program attracted many well wishes from inside and outside the state among which Professor Humphrey Nwobashi former commissioner for Agriculture, commissioner for Capital City Development Mr Sunday Inyama, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Oguzor Nwali, Chief Iloegbune Okoye among others.
They all commended Omaka’s bold step and encouraged others to toll his footsteps.
Professor Nwobashi noted that developing a city was not a work fir the government alone but needs individual contribution
“This is a place we have very hardworking sons and daughters and they have to be harvested. I believe that all we need is development, deployment and development.
“Government has no money, those who go to government for development have nothing to achieve. If you encourage individuals, if you mobilize their minds to see the reasons why they should invest, normally, they do better.
If you go to Anambra State, individual construct roads, individual builds schools and invest on human beings. So, this is what we are trying to encourage here and lucky enough, our sons and daughters are all living outside this place and outside Ebonyi State.
The bridge you crossed before getting to this community was built 30 years ago and it was constructed by this community. Most of the things here were done by us, even our secondary school was constructed by the community. This is what some of us preach. Yes, government can assist but government can’t do everything”.
