The Rector of Niger State Polytechnic Dr. Umar Ahmed Egbako has challenged newly matriculated students to shun cultism, examination malpractices, sexual harassment and other related social vices capable of truncating their academic plans.
Egbako made the warning during the Matriculation of Seventy one (71) 2018/2919 academic session of Niger State Polytechnic regular evening program students held at the ICT Complex main campus Zungeru.
The Rector who said Niger State Polytechnic is one of the fastest growing Polytechnic in Nigeria according to recent rating by the National Board for Technical Education, called on staff/students to work towards maintaining the tempo.
“Let me use this medium to thank the management team of Centre for Continuing Education and training CC &T for once again putting the Polytechnic on a threshold of history by introducing the evening program”.
The evening program according to him, is a unique one because it is design to bridge the gap of carrying capacity allowed by NBTE for the morning program.
” In other words, this program afford us the another opportunity of transferring what obtain in the morning program to evening without flouting any laws” he said.
He maintained that from now henceforth, future matriculation ceremonies shall be in combined fashion with a view to consolidating the institution’s stance on the status of all the programs.
He stated the under his administration, he have had the fortune producing sixteen Doctorate degree holders, 25 PhDs in- view and about 105 academic staff are currently pursuing their Master degrees within and outside Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Polytechnic had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal University of Technology Minna, which according to the Rector, would enable the Polytechnic run and award Bachelor of Engineering in Computer science, Electrical/Electronics and Bachelor of Technology in Urban Planning, statistics and Estate management.
Egbako commended Niger state Government under Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello in area of welfare and prompt payment of salaries.
