Bearing last minute changes, a planned peaceful protest by African Continental Conference of solidarity with Cuba to the United States of America embassy in Abuja is canceled today.
According to a statement from the solidarity spokesperson, Comrade Owei Lakemfa, the protest to the USA embassy in Abuja have to be modified as Washington has raised concern of insecurity for their citizens should the protest continue. This he said the Federal government have granted necessitating the changes in the conference program. The protest was later taken to the unity square Abuja. All the speakers condemned the blockades in Cuba by the United States of America, calling on the international Court to support the noble course of the Cubans.
According to one of the speakers, Hanna Luwisa Bisu, former Ghanian deputy minister of agriculture, she said Cuba’s sovereignty deserves to be respected and that the African continent will continue to support them because of her humanitarian gestures.
The conference which started on Monday came to an end on Wednesday as many hopes that the resolutions from the event will see the light of the day and eventual freedom for Cuba. Recall that Cuba have been sanctioned for decades by the United States of America following what they termed as anti human socialists policies of former Cuban leader, Fidel Castrol.
