Governor Sani Bello of Niger State has vow to provide adequate security and welfare to corps members posted to the state to improve the socioeconomic development of Nigeria by the scheme.
Governor Bello made the promised Wednesday, while declaring the 2019 Batch ‘C’ pre-mobilization workshop open, at Justice Idris Kutugi Conference Centre, challenging to maintain integrity.
The workshop according to him, is a routine brainstorming session that heralds every Mobilization exercise
“This, no doubt, portrays NYSC as a proactive agency, which should be emulated by other organisations as we strive to collectively support the accelerated development of our dear country”. He stressed.
Speaking through his deputy at the occasion, Governor applauded the contributions of NYSC to the development of the socioeconomic development of Nigeria.
” The choice of the theme, promoting integrity in the NYSC Mobilization process: the role of stakeholders, is also apt as it reflects the present administration’s stance on upholding ethics and transparency in the conduct of governance “. He explained
The Governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to the security and general welfare of corps members in order to reduce the challenges of the scheme in the state.
Also speaking, the Director-General NYSC, Brigadier General Ibrahim S. emphasized that names of unqualified persons were included in Senate/Academic Board approval list uploaded on the NYSC Registration portal by some Corps producing institutions despite calls for integrity.
General Ibrahim warn that the scheme shall not hesitate to blacklist and publish in the national dailies, any corps producing institutions which continues to include names of unqualified persons in their Upload data.
This trend according to him is worrisome as it amounts to betrayal of trust or gross negligence, which will not be tolerated under his watch.
He lamented that, it is unfathomable that some of the affected institutions will claim that they only discovered such infractions at the point of printing the hard copies of their uploaded data.
On her part, Niger State NYSC Coordinator Mrs Funmilayo Ajayi expressed optimism for the support and peaceful environment enjoyed by the NYSC corps members in the state.
