Fourteen (14) out of the five thousand, four hundred and forty five 5,445 total confirmed cases of COVID – 19 in the Country, are from Niger state in North Central Nigeria.
The figure rise with four new cases confirmed in the state from 26 results received from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
This figure raised a lot of concerns in the minds of many that out of twenty six samples four turned out positive hence the need for more samples to curtailed the spread of the novel virus.
Niger State Commissioner for Health and Hospital Service, Dr. Muhammad Makusidi has said the remaining 22 are negative, explaining that the four positive results are two each from Lagos and Kano.
He said two are in Bida one of them being an indigene of Kano while a petty trader was involved in an accident in Bida while travelling from Lagos to Kano, adding that the other two confirmed cases are residents of Suleja and New Bussa.
He emphasised that all the patients including the ones already on admission are in stable condition and are receiving treatment accordingly.
Feelers had it that, Government need to do more in sensitising people on safety rules, and as well carry out more samples to ascertain the true position of affected people in the state.
