* Calls for protocol on Fumigation of cities
A lecturer with the Nasarawa State University, Dr Ishaku Akyala has said that Fumigation of cities by state governments without necessary Air Sampling Analysis (ASA) been carried out is dangerous to inhabitants of such locations.
Akyala, a Medical Laboratory Scientist told peoplerepoters that such analysis is usually done to ascertain viral load and duration in terms of time series analysis of the viral lifespan.
He said the danger of Fumigating public places without the Air Analysis is that, it pose public health danger to inhabitants because of generation of aerosols that are carcinogenic.
“I wept when a State Governor came to a Public TV to bobldly say he used 500 million naira to fumigate the State capital. Is Fumigation our priority? Was air sample analysis carried out?
“As a Scientist, you don just go into Fumigation until you do Air Sampling analysis of affected areas to ascertain viral load and duration in terms of time series analysis of the viral lifespan.
” None of such analysis was ever carried out, the danger of Fumigating public places is that it pose public health danger to inhabitants because of generation of aerosols that are carcinogenic”.
The Virologist and Public health expert however called on the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency ( NESRA ) to tell Nigerians the protocol for Fumigation of cities.
“Where is NESRA? Do we have protocol for Fumigation of cities? Who has bewitched us? Does the sampling analysis shows high viral load on in the air? What is the duration for lifespan of this virus in the air?
“I have check NESRA database, none of such air analysis was carried out.
“We must not go into Fumigation just because China and USA are Fumigating their cities”.
