Gov. Sule, Deputy Sworn In For Second Term

Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State and his Deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe were inaugurated for the second term in office by the State Chief Judge (CJ), Justice Aisha Bashir.

Speaking immediately after the inauguration on Monday at the Lafia Square, the governor expressed gratitude to the people of the state for the overwhelmed support at the polls on March 18 for the second term.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the constitution of the country and promised to continue to do his best to better the welfare of the people and develop the state in the next four years.

Sule also gave his scorecards to includes, attraction of the organised private sectors who invested in various parts of the economy, construction of urban and rural roads, construction of schools, markets in Akwanga, Keffi, Nassarawa-Eggon.

Others are; construction of Bus terminals in Lafia and Karu, employment of over 3,000 teachers, confirmation of appointment to over 2, 000 teachers, regularisation of the appointment of casual staff in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

“Employment of teaching and non teaching staff at the College of Education Akwanga, College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Lafia and Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic Lafia among others.

“We also implemented outstanding promotions of over 10 years, trained and retrained civil servants within and outside the state, commence process for the implementation of promotions from 2017-date,” he added.

The governor also said the administration had commenced the construction of State Secretariat to address the challenges of office accomodations and we would finish the project before the second tenure.

He added that the state government had also invested heavily in security and had supported the security agencies with needed logistics to function properly and we would sustain it.

Gov. Sule therefore promised to dedicate the next four years of his second tenure to the development of the state and better the welfare of its people.

Gov. Sule also lauded the former President, Muhammadu Buhari for a successful tenure of eight years and his development strides especially in Nasarawa State.

He said that the immediate past president amply demonstrated these in the appointment of sons and daughters of Nasarawa State into federal positions and the numerous transformative projects cited in our State.

“The expansion and dualization of Abuja-Keffi-Lafia-Makurdi highway; completion and commissioning of the Loko-Oweto bridge; commencement of Farin-Ruwa Hydro Power Project and take-over of Lafia Cargo Airport have immensely impacted on the economic fortunes of our State,” he added 

He therefore wished the former President good health and success in his future endeavours.

The governor also congratulated the newly inaugurated President Bola Tinubu and his Deputy Kashim Shettima and wished them well as they began their tenure of four years.

“We are delighted to welcome our new President, Tinubu, a tested leader and patriot whose stewardship as past Executive Governor of Lagos State and commitment to the overall development of Nigeria is outstanding.

“We have no doubt that his antecedents and past achievements in the development of Nigeria will be brought to bear in his present leadership for the benefit of all Nigerians. 

“We assure Mr. President of our loyalty and support at all times, may the Almighty Allah grant him more wisdom and the capacity to lead Nigeria to greater heights,” he said.

He expressed optimism that very soon Nigeria and Nigerians would begin to witness prosperity and development in all sectors under the new administration.

Earlier, John Mamman, Nasarawa State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), said the party was aware that the governor would win the March 18 election because of his records of achievements.

He added that the governor had performed credibly well in all sectors of the economy thereby making the state the investment destination in the country.

The APC Chairman further explained that with the recent discovering of oil, the state would witness prosperity and would catch up with the first generation states in terms of development.
