Implement Minimum Wage Or Risk Impeachment, Labour Dare’s Governors

Leadership of the joint negotiating council of civil Service, Tuesday in Abuja while deliberating on the proposed templates to enhance implementation of the newly signed agreement tasked state governors to either implement the new salary structure or risk impeachment by the people

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, the acting chairman, Comrade Anchave Simon said

“we are calling on state governments to commence the implementation of the new minimum wage immediately. Any governor that says he will not pay the new minimum wage stands to be impeached by the people. Our point here is, let chairmen of state industrial Unions have the salaries and handed over to the governors for onward implementation across the 36 states.

“On the issue of template, we have called for the immediate implementation. We ask that the implementation begins from April 18 when this bill was passed. The template we are giving is that first, an agreement was signed.

“On the issue of Kaduna. Kaduna state governor has been a controversial governor long ago. The so called implementation of the minimum wage he has done will be revisited. We will not allow it in that Kaduna or any other state of the federation” he concluded

In the same vein, secretary of the council, Comrade Bashir Lawal said

“The struggles now goes to the states, so we are going to have negotiations at the state level. That is the essence of this meeting, to exchange ideas, data, information and guide the process very well so that at end of the day, what we will be arriving at, at the state level will be something that will be beneficial to our members, and workers throughout the federation” he said

For there to be industrial harmony in the country, government across board must synergized with the organized labour.
