Katampe Residents Decry’s Rising Insecurity

By Emmanuel Eko, Abuja

Residents of Katampe Extension, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, has called on the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr Bala Ciroma to rescue them from the claws of daredevil hoodlums terrorising their lives on daily basis by mobilizing their men to Katampe area.

Speaking with our reporter Friday in Abuja, Mrs. Funmi Otedola, a resident of the area alledged that the hoodlums who now disguesses as Okada riders and herdsmen have left a trail of venom on their unsuspecting victims.

Mrs Otedola lamented that with the rising cases of insecurity in the neighbourhood, residents are forced to sleep with their eyes open as no one can predict their next target.

She narrated her ordeal in the hands of these joy killers to peoplereporters.com in an emotionally laden voice

“Residents can no longer sleep with their eyes closed, as criminals have built hideouts behind Katampe Extension where they carry out their illicit activities.

“Last week while returning back from church service at exactly 8:00pm, i engaged a cyclist from the junction to my house, few metres away from the junction, the cyclist brought out a pistol and ordered me to surrender all the belongings in my bag. As a woman in great fear I did as told, thereafter i was thrown down from the motorcyle, sustaining various degrees of injuries.

“I hereby unbehalf of other residents of this troubled area call on the Inspector General of Police and the FCT Commissioner of Police to come to our aid before something more dangerous will happen to us”.
