There are strong indications that the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, (COEASU) would next week suspend its three months old strike.
National president of COEASU Comrade Nuhu Ogirima disclosed that some lingering issues have been given meaningful consideration by government during a consultation meeting with the National Officers Council at the instance of the ministry of education.
COEASU president said to that regard the National officers Council of the union have agreed to hold an expanded National Executive Council meeting next week to present the resolutions reached to members for a decision to suspending the strike.
Ogirima however said COEASU is closely monitoring the commitment of government on issues of patterning to the NEEDS assessment report, funding and infrastructure provision
the head of the colleges of Education teachers appreciated the minister of education on his meeting with state governments over the several months of unpaid salaries in their state institution
COEASU has been on strike to demand among others things better welfare for members in the aspect of earned academic allowances, salary shortfall and upgrading of some colleges to degree awarding institutions.
