Nasarawa Govt. Empowers 95 University Graduates With Different Entrepreneurship Skills
The Nasarawa State Government has trained 95 university graduates and equipped them with different entrepreneurship skills so as to make them self reliance and employers of labour.
Nasarawa State Government held the three weeks ‘Employability and Entrepreneurship Training Job Fair and Employment Summit in collaboration with Oxfarm Nigeria and Poise Graduate Finishing Academic.
Speaking at the end of the exercise on Friday in Lafia, Gov. Abdullahi Sule said the entrepreneurship training became imperative because of the determination of his administration to engage with youths positively.
The governor explained that he has employed over 3, 000 teachers, many Doctors and other healthcare workers as well as other workforce into the civil service since inception in 2019.
“We have also rolled out a lot of training for the youths and women where they were equipped with the 21st century skills, which this one is one of such programmes.
“We will continue to train and empower our youths and women so as to turn the large population to assets.

“Population has never been a problem anywhere, the cases studies of India and China are relevant examples.
“What is the measure problem is lack of ideas, initiative and entrepreneurship skills.
“Entrepreneurs are the employers of majority of the people in all developed economy, once if there is enabling environments.
“No government anywhere can provide employment for all its citizens, hence the need for the policy of our government to empower our youths with skills in addition to those we can employ,” Sule added.
Gov. Sule therefore, congratulated the beneficiaries and promised that the government would help them secure soft loans to set up their business.
Also, Habiba Suleiman, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Sule on Human Capital Development, said this was the third edition of the training organised in the state.
The SSA explained that some of the course contents the beneficiaries were told includes; business plan writing, CV written, customer service excellence, marketing strategy, business and personal finance management.
Others are; dressing to win, goal setting, impression management, team bounding and team building, courtesy language and polite expression, emotional intelligence, work ethics, among others.
She explained that 994 graduates from the state applied for the training, but 95 only were selected for now, but promised to accommodate more people subsequently.
