NAWOJ Condemns Defilement Of Minor In Nasarawa State

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ Nasarawa State chapter has condemned in strong terms the alleged defilement and impregnation of a 15-year-old girl by her uncle.

This is contained in a statement signed by Hajiya Hadiza Umar, state Chairman of NAWOJ and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Lafia.

The NAWOJ Chairman said it is evil, barbaric and inhuman for a man to defile a girl he is supposed to protect.

Hajiya Hadiza Umar called for the prosecution of the said culprit to serve as a deterrent to others.

“We will follow keenly and report proceedings of the court sessions until the culprit is prosecuted,” she added.

The Nasarawa State NAWOJ Chairman said as women of the pen profession they would continue to project and project all issues that concern women and children in the state.
