NECO Releases Result With Decrease Is Performances

The Registrar and Chief Executive officer of National Examination Council NECO has released Prof.Dantani Ibrahim Wushshi has announced the released of 2021 internal examination amids decrease in performances.

He said out of the 1,226,796 who sat for the examination, 878,925 representing 71.64% made 5 credit including Mathmatics and English with decrease of 2.25 compare to that of 2020.

He further explained that 1,2226,796 representing 94.04% made 5 credit and above irrespective of Mathematics and English with sharp decline of 2.13% when compare to that of 2020

For comparison purposes, the number of candidates who made five credits and above including English and Mathematics is 984,101 representing 73.89 per cent; compared to 2019 June/July SSCE figures of 829,787, there is an increase of 2.3 per cent. Number of candidates who made five credits and above irrespective of English Language is 1,112,041, representing 91.91 per cent; compared to 2019 June/July SSCE figures of 1,04,989, an increase of 2.01 per cent.

Meanwhile, parents and school owners had earlier complained about the delay in the release of the 2021 Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by the National Examination Council results.

The exam commenced on Monday, July 5, 2021 and ended on Monday, August 16, 2021.

Some parents, who regitered dismay on the development, said their children and wards required the results to sit Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and process admission into tertiary institutions.

A parent, Mr Emeka Anozie, told our correspondent that his two children, who sat the NECO SSCE, needed the results because the schools of choice would not accept awaiting result.

The Chairman, Topdeal College & 3G Educational Services, Ikorodu, Lagos, Mr Oladeji Akinola, explained that some schools would not accept awaiting results, adding that it was important that NECO results were released early so that the candidates would not miss admissions having passed the UTME.

“Institutions like the Tai Solarin University of Education; Macpherson University; Osun State University; Federal University, Oye Ekiti, and some others do not accept awaiting result; if the candidates don’t upload their O’level result on the JAMB portal, they will not be able process admission,” he stated.
