Staff of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have cried out over what they adjudged as a collapsed of Emergency respond centers nationwide. In a letter address to President Muhammadu Buhari, copied senator Saraki, the president of the senate, speaker House of Reps Dogara and other principal officials alleged that NEMA DG Engr.Mustapha Yunusa Maihaja conspired with AIG Taiwo Lakanu to sneak out files of the Staff Life Assurance policy, staff promotion file, ERT file among others that he could approve and backdate.
The letter which PeopleReporters obtained also said “our complain is that the DG ,Maihaja is incompetent,inexperienced,he has grounded the Agency.
” The Aircrafts that cost the Federal Republic Of Nigeria $100b tax payers money has been grounded by Maihaja, he flew the Aircraft twice when he resumed office and the insurance expired,he refused to pay,The Emergency Response Ambulance Bays responded to over 1000 incidences just within Abuja between 2015 and 2016 in one year has been grounded by Maihaja, The Agency can not respond to emergencies anywhere in Nigeria, the call centre has been grounded, all response vehicles grounded, IDPS are left to their fate as the Agency is not in anyway providing food and non food items to them, relief materials are decaying in the respective warehouses. The staff members are been made redundant,no working materials/equipment,the staff are on daily basis exposed to all kinds of work place intimidation,the zonal/operations office are grounded by Maihaja”.
