Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger has said, his administration is poise to reduce poverty through improving Agricultrural production in the state.
The state government according to him has been enjoying collaboration with several agricultural donor and development agencies, like FADAMA III SF project, CBN Anchor Borrowers programme and RAMII projects, to maximize the state’s potentials in the agricultural value chains.
Speaking during the United Nations Global Week in Niger State, held at the Government house conference hall, said his administration since inception has identify some key priority areas with primary target of reducing poverty through improved agricultural practices.
” So far, we have been working with relevant partners, through our MDAs and LGAs towards eliminating extreme poverty and hunger through different development programmes which target women and youths and vulnerable and downtrodden in the society as they constitute the larger part of the population”.
Governor Abubakar Bello who said the the state has 10% of the country’s land mass, pointed out that about 90% is arable that has large water bodies with tributaries that encourage all season farming and fisheries.
“Today’s event is a moment of stocktaking to reflect on our perceptions of how well we are dealing with providing the basic necessities of life, especially for very many of us in the developing countries of the world”.
