The Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Center Keffi, Yahaya Baba Adamu has identified poor funding, lack of medical facilities and manpower as some of the constraints hindering the center providing better and quality healthcare services to the people of the state.
Adamu made the appeal Monday while playing host to members of the Progressive Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in his office in keffi.
The CMD appealed to the Federal Ministry of Health to as a matter of necessity increase the budgetary provisions to the hospital to enable them respond and address immediate health challenges confronting the people of the state.
He explained that, aside from increase funding, the hospitals was in dare need of infrastructures, and as such, he said, effort are ongoing to build more operating rooms, expands the existing wards in the hospital.
He however thanked governor Abdullahi Sule for donating a 23.8 heater of land to the center as its permanent site, saying in no distance time, work would soon commenced preparatory to their relocation.
He specifically mentioned that the hospital was lacking manpower, especially in the area of clinical services to improve and addressing critical issues relating to health care.
Adamu also decried how the present acident and emergency units of the hospital is congested, saying that the need to expand the services at the units, as well as the dialysis Center medical and laboratory units to meet world standard is imperative.
He added, his leadership was trying to introduce alot of initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.
