Immediate past councillors (2016-2019) in Niger State, have called on Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to effect the payment of their surverance allowances before the conduct of up coming council elections or face legal action against.
Chairman, Committee on Allowance Recovery 2016-2019 Local Government Councils, Hon. Aliyu Abubakar made this known in a press briefing in Minna Tuesday appealed to the Governor to ensure that his approved money was released accordingly.
The leader of the group told Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to prevailed without further delay on the state Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs whom they accused of being reluctant to release their entitlements to them in line with the government policy of change mantra and next level.
Abubakar while speaking on behalf of the 274 ward councilor of the 25 local governments in Niger state however said that they have resolve and threatened to go to EFCC and ICPC if nothing is done haven left office about nine months ago.
He lamented the all of them are married men and women with children and other dependants confronted with their liabilities presently languishing in poverty and unlimited bank loans as well individual debts hence the need for government to sympathized with them.
He recalled that “we are all elected into office and served for three years and Honorably finished our tenure with meritorious disengagement which common sense should tell every responsible government that we are rewarded, that is not done. Talk less of our entitlement which government needs not to await to ask for the payments” he stated.
