Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja are asking Government to provide palliative for them as the lockdown directives is bitting hard.
The residents are also defyingg the lockdown ordered to contain the Corona virus pandemic in the country.
Our correspondent who monitored the situation in some communities, can report that people moved freely, while some are drinking alcohol, yet others gathered discussing in their numbers.
Some of the residents who didn’t want there names in print, said most people believed Coronavirus is a scam and whatever anyone tells them about social distancing won’t make any impact.
A bear Seller in one of the communities told our correspondent that beer parlours owners who opened for business had money to give to the Police as bribe.
He said “as you can see my shop is locked, because in keeping to the social distancing order, the shop must be under lock and key.
“Those people you see in their numbers are putting everyone in danger. This is because most of them don’t believe Corona virus is real”.
A woman in the community told our correspondent they gathered outside because there was not light.
“We are outside because the weather is very hot, at the same time, there is no light. We where discussing this social distancing issue before you came”. She said.
Some of residents were visibly angry with this report when asked what they understood by social distancing.
One of them said ” bros, we are hungry, how can we observed social distancing?. Give us food in our homes, you won’t see anyone outside.Government should do something, we are tired of staying indoors”.
Our correspondent also observed that commercial cars are seen moving freely, despite several Police check points mounted on the roads.
At one of the check points in Life camp junction, commercial vehicles were seen going to Berger, Utako, Lugbe and Jabi among others.
