The Nasarawa State House of Assembly , Lafia on Sunday shut down as a result of the death of a member representing Nasarawa central at the House, Hon. Adamu Suleiman Ibrahim from the dreaded Corona virus.
To this end, all his colleagues in the Assembly were asked to go on self isolation to avoid spread of the disease.
Senior Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Media, Ali Abare in Facebook wall “Following the passing on of the Hon member representing Nasarawa Central at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, the assembly has been shut down until further notice.
“The late Hon. Adamu Suleiman Ibrahim fell victim of the rampaging coronavirus pandemic”.
A source at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Keffi, told peoplereporters that already the management has commence contact tracing of those that had contact with the Lawmaker when He was brought to the hospital.
The Source who pleaded anornimyty told our correspondent that when he brought to the hospital, his traveled history was not disclose.
According to him, “When he was brought to the Federal Medical Centre, FMC , Keffi, he refused to disclose his traveled history. The first place they took him at the hospital was the Accident and Emergency, (A&E) after some times he was admitted and send to the ward.
“At the Ward, He shows symptoms of the Covid 19 pandemic, at this point He was taken to the isolation centre where he died.
“We are woried because many health workers had contact with the deceased in the hospital. This is because from the cleaners to the last worker that attended to him before moving him to the isolation centre.
“That is not all, the hospital while awaiting the result of the sample taken to Abuja for testing by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) released his corpse to the family for burial. We were told , it was the son that bath him before burial according to Islamic rite” the source said.
When peoplereporters contacted the Public Relations Officer of the FMC, Mohammed Adamu said ” today is Sunday I can’t respond to your question but tomorrow which is Monday, I would authenticate all you raise and answers will be provided accordingly”.
However in a viral video recorded in hausa, a lady were seen in the video lamenting over the way and manner the burial of the late Lawmaker was done without observing social distancing measure.
She beg youths in Nasarawa LGA the hometown of deceased to go on self isolation because of the role play during the burial.
