Calabar Orphanage Home Receives Government Facelift
Succour has finally returned for Orphans at Uwanse motherless home as their facility has received state government attention.
In a quest to ensuring a conducive atmosphere for the less privileged, Cross River state Governor, Sen Prof. Ben Ayade has ordered the immediate renovation of the motherless home so as to give the children a new lease of hope.
Speaking during an inspection tour to the facility Tuesday in Calabar, the Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare, Hon. Blessing Egbara, said the renovations became pertinent in view of the dilapidations that has engulfed the home.
She described the Governor’s intervention as both timely and humanistic. According to her
“Honestly the place was in a very bad state, when I first got here I nearly wept, the buildings was almost collapsing on the children, the surroundings very bushy as if no one lives here. I quickly wrote to His Excellency and I’m really happy that today we can witness a new look Motherless Babies home.
“As you can see the Children are all smiling and playing around, it wasn’t like this when I first came here, so it shows that these children are finally enjoying the new change around the premises”.
Hon. Egbara pleged government commitment in ensuring that life is made meaningful for the Orphans and less privilege in the state.
Also speaking on the supersonic turnaround in the facility, the Officer in-charge of the Motherless Babies Home, Mrs Ekanem Archibong, commended the Governor for his golden heart towards children as well as the Commissioner for her motherly role in pursuing the renovations to a logical conclusion, even as the children are happier and healthier.
“I really want to thank the Governor, for reaching out to this children. it shows how passionate he is towards the wellbeing of his people, as you can see the project is still ongoing and we are really pleased with what is happening.
“Things have really turned around since mummy came to this place, the children are more lively, the environment is conducive for them, they have water, there is a Standby Generator in case there is no public power, alot has really happened”.
Mrs Archibong however used the opportunity to solicit for a stand by vehicle from government to enable them convey the sick to hospital incase of eventuality.
