C/River Speaker, Ayade’s aide, collaborate to fight cultism, drug abuse
Mr. Cyril James-Omini, the Special Assistant to Gov. Ben Ayade on Security, Yakurr Local Government Area, has sought the collaboration of the Speaker of the Cross River House of Assembly, Mr. Eteng Jonah-Williams in curbing cases of cultism and drug abuse among youths in the area.

James-Omini, who paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker in his office on Tuesday in Calabar, said the synergy was to help them look inward and fashion out ways to enhance peace and unity in the area.
He said that his mandate was to ensure that cases of insecurity, cultism, communal clash, drug abuse among youths, and all forms of civil unrest were properly managed for peace to thrive.

“The security of life and properties is of utmost importance to the state government. As an appointee of government, my mandate is to work with all relevant stakeholders in Yakurr local government area in ensuring that absolute peace is returned to the area.
“Mr. Speaker, I am happy to inform you that I have met with the traditional rulers and some youth groups and we had a fruitful deliberation on why we should embrace peace and support the administration of Gov. Ayade.
“I am in your office today to collaborate with you on measures that will ensure peaceful coexistence among all indigenes and residents of Yakurr local government area”, he said.

Responding, the Speaker, Jonah-Williams, who represent Yakurr 2 State Constituency in the Assembly, thanked the governor for appointing James-Omini to serve as his security aide in Yakurr local government area.
The Speaker said the collaboration was timely and necessary, adding that cases of cultism and drug abuse in the area needed to be fought to a stand-still.
He assured the Special Assistant of his support and collaboration for all his activities in the area, thereby urging him to be of good conduct and always on ground to respond to cases of an emergency promptly.
