Governor Sani Bello of Niger State has said the persistence banditry in the state indicates that there is hiding agenda somewhere.
Governor Bello stated this while playing hosts to Five governors of Sokoto, Nasarawa, Ekiti, Kwara and Plateau State at Government House Minna, Tuesday.
The Governor however appealed to the Federal Government to assist the states in the area of intelligent gathering to tackle the security situation in states.
Bello who described the visit as a moral booster, said ” it is a good thing for us to come together and impost on the federal government to do the needful”
” Your excellencies you are all aware that yes we are state Governors, but we all have our limitations when it comes to control of operations you don’t fully control the army, the air force, or even the police”.
He called on the federal federal government to key in and work with the state government so as to provide adequate intelligence and find a final solution to this menace.
” I have no doubts in my mind from the feelers and from what we are gotten, after speaking to our colleagues on individual bases, that this situation now is a front burner, and by God’s grace something will be done about it”.
The governor stressed that there’s always beginning to something but this last episode According to him, has gotten the required attention. “For those that know the efforts we have been making despite our limited resources to finance security operations, though there are federal securities posted to the state, but we know the amount of money spent take care of these officers. But it appears whatever we are doing is not enough, it means we have to do more”.
While praying that God should not allow the state to witness such situations again, argued that “I hope whatever we lament, will be followed by immediate action because there is time to plan for next week or next month no!
He emphasized that as the secured the release of the 53 passengers, concerted effort are on to also ensure safe release of pupils from Government Science schools Kagara through dialogue.
From experience I understand that the gun men have different causes and mission of what they are doing those one that we feel they have genuine causes, as bad as it may be seen I think there’s the need to look at those causes and see how we can adjust them. So that we can have a lasting peace. He explained

On his part, Governor Fayemi of Ekiti State who emphasized on harmony, said they are in Niger State to commiserate with Governor Abubakar Bello over the abduction of the Kagara students and to commend him over the release of the 53 passengers
He also call for synergy among security agencies to find lasting solutions to the problem.
Adding that if it requires dialogue and negotiations is not made on time, it can be explored.
He says at this moment, there is no regionalization of the security issues or ethnic inclination, explaining that Nigeria can no longer play the ostrich and pretend about the issues.
He therefore calls for an adequate solution to the crisis in the North East.
Fayemi who attributes the security challenges in the country to factors such as poverty, illiteracy among others, opine that the bandits terrorizing the north are remnants of Boko Haram who have infiltrated into other parts of the country
He said all the governors in the country must put their heads together to solve the problem, which according to him cannot be fought in isolation
Fayemi lamented that this portends a great threat to the future of the country as the future generation may be deprived of quality education due to insecurity.
