Nasarawa NUJ Challenges Government To Go Tough On bandits

The Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) Nasarawa State Council, on Thursday called on federal government to deal decisively with the bandits by using available arsenal at its disposal to protect innocent Nigerians.
This is contained in a communique issued and signed by Council Secretary, Comr. Sunday John at the end of its monthly congress in Lafia
According to the communique, the activities of bandits is becoming a national embarrassment as they are making life unbearable for innocent Nigerians, noted that since there is a law proscribing the bandits as terrorists, they should be treated as such.
The Council urged government at all level to live up to their responsibility of protecting lives and property of citizens, given the deteriorating nature of insecurity in the country.
it decried the return of Almajiri in their numbers to Nasarawa state after their repatriation, and described it as alarming and drew the attention of concerned authorities to do the needful before their presence become a threat to the nation.

NUJ called on Nasarawa State government to be wary of the influx of unknown persons and foreigners into the state without a defined motive and occupation, while urging government to be on alert.
On amended electoral acts, the council said it has all it take to redefine democracy in Nigeria and challenged journalists to use the media to educate people on the new law to propel electorates to carry out their civic responsibility.
The council equally called on Natioal Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Ministry of Information to embark on awareness creation to enlighten electorates on the significance of the electoral act.
The council commended Nasarawa State government for efforts put in place in ensuring relative peace in the state and sued for sustainability.
The union also lauded the Nasarawa State Government for successfully hosting President Muhammadu Buhari during his officials visit to the state.
The council congratulated Sen. Abdullahi Adamu who emerged as National Chairman of APC and called on him to be good ambassador of the state as always as he carries out his political assignment.
The council urged members in Nasarawa state to engage in developmental journalism especially rural reporting for the overall development of the state.
