Nassarawa Govt. Inaugurates Technical Committee On e-governance
The Nassarawa State Government has inaugurated a digital transformation technical committee to implement the e-government master plan of the state government.
Speaking at the inauguration on Tuesday in Lafia, Abigail Waya, Acting Head of Civil Service said the committee was necessitated by the need to to achieve e-government master plan.
She explained that the objective of the committee is to understand the impact of Information Communication Technology (ICT) training programs on the success of e-government services.
The Head of Civil Service added that it would also improve digital competency along with decreasing the digital divide concerning ICT development in the state.
“Among the major goals is for Nasarawa State to fully embrace, accept and get full participation in digital transformation, and the introduction of far-reaching policies which will go a long way in creating a paperless, data driven economy that has technology as its backbone.
“The master plan seeks the utilization of ICT to drive transparency in governance and improve the quality and cost effectiveness of public service delivery in Nasarawa State.
“In line with the master plan, all government operations are expected to move to digital platforms, and all workers proficient in the use of information technologies, ensuring service delivery is assured,” the Head of Service added.

She further said that the team would also ensure the implementation of the approved ICT policy of the state government in line with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy of the Federal Government.
Waya also said that the fast emergence of ICT has encouraged innovations of Technological services in public sectors through the delivery of internet.
She said that the state government had since trained civil servants on digital literacy and gave out loan of laptops to them preparatory to this period where government activities would soon go paperless.
She therefore directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs in the state to cooperate with the committee to enable them succeed.
Responding on behalf of others, Mr Shehu Ibrahim, Chairman of the committee expressed gratitude to the state government for the confidence reposed on them and promised not to disappoint them.
Mr Ibrahim who is the Director General, Nassarawa State Bureau for Information and Communication Technology (BITC), added that the committee was made up of well experience ICT experts.
He therefore said that they cannot afford to fail the government and the state on this important assignment to reposition the civil service.
