. David Ombigadu, Nasarawa State candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the 2023 general elections has presented certified true copies of IREV records for Lafia Local Government Area (LGA) to prove that the election was rigged.
Mr Ombugadu, is challenging the victory of Gov. Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the polls conducted on March 18.
The PDP candidate presented the records through a subpoenaed witness who represented the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the resumed hearing at the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday in Lafia.
The INEC Deputy Director of Information Communication Technology (ICT) Mr. Ama Ibom who was subpoenaed, was designated as PW20.
The INEC ICT Deputy Director presented Form EC8A (Certify IREV Copies) of the affected polling units in Lafia LGA.
The witness also assured the tribunal that he can be called upon at any time when the need arises.
Counsels to Gov. Abdullahi Sule, APC and INEC, Wole Olanikpekun (SAN), Hassan Liman (SAN) and Ishaku Dikko, (SAN) did not raised any objection to the documents rendered by the witness.
On his part, Counsel to the petitioner Samuel Jubril-Okutepa (SAN) tendered the following to the tribunal; form EC8A for the 13 LGAs in the state and a duly certified manual regulations and guidelines for the conduct of 2023 general elections.
The petitioner’s counsel also told the tribunal that he has one last star witness left to close his case.
After listening to the witness, the
Chairman of the three-man Governorship Election Petition Panel, Ezekiel Ajayi, adjourned the sitting to Thursday Aug. 17, for continuation of hearing. (NAN).
