The Migrant Labour General Workers Union International (MLGWUI) has appealed to trade unions , migration experts as well other spirited individuals to support the organization towards May Day celebration for her members in Ghana.
In an appeal letter signed by the Secretary General and Head of Relations of the organization, Comrade Justice Baako NTARMAH , the group expressed her readiness to mobilise migrant workers across Ghana, to participate in this May Day parade
The letter reads “As part of the 2024 May Day (International Workers Day) Celebration, the Migrant Labour General Workers’ Union International (MLGWUI) as the central trade union for all Migrant Workers comprising Migrant Workers in private companies, informal sector, member staff of migration organisations, migration advocacy Journalists in migration and members of migrant groups is organised to join the Organised Labour in Ghana throughout the country in 2024 May Day Celebration Parade Activities.
“Globally, Migrant Workers are recognized and fighting for their human and labour rights in decent work agenda; equal remuneration equal pay for equal work, better conditions of service, gender equality, peace and security.
” Therefore we believe it is during the celebration of May Day the Migrant Workers’ voice could be heard to enable employers and governments as well as African Heads of State to recognize all categories of Migrant Workers in formal and informal working sectors.
“However, MLGWUI lacks of fund to fund the 2024 May Day Celebration Activities effectively. But we are doing our best to solicit for fund from other sources.
“We are therefore fraternally urging you to organise your members of staff and known Migrants and immediately submit their names, positions and contacts who would be attending to the celebration activities to the Secretariat of the MLGWUI through its’ emails: migrantlabourworkersunion.int@yahoo.com”.
