The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has appealed to Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and NNPC Retail Limited to release members processed licenses.
According to a statement signed by the National Public Relations officer of the group, Chief Chinedu Ukadike also called for extension of the deadline for delisting of marketers from their express portals.
Chief Ukadike also assured that such move by both NMDPRA and NNPCRL will ease the tension of panic buying by members of the public in order not to aggravate the present scarcity of petroleum products.
He said information reaching the association reveled that out of the fifteen thousand licenses, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) only processed more than nine thousand for the members.
The statement reads “ that the latest information reaching us from Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) states that they have already processed more than Nine Thousand (9,000) out of the Fifteen Thousand licenses they are expected to process for our members within this period.
“That marketers are fast tracking the processing of their licenses to avoid the impending closure of their customer express portals for purchase of petroleum products from NNPC Retail Limited. ;
“That ‘we therefore use this opportunity to appeal to the management of NMOPRA and NNPC Retail Limited to respectively release the processed licenses and extend the deadline for delisting of marketers from their express portals. If our request is granted, it will ease the tension of panic buying by members of the public in order not to aggravate the present scarcity of petroleum products.
