The Perish Priest of St. Augustine Catholic Church Ombi 1 Lafia, Nasarawa State Rev. Fr. George Shenge, has called on Nigerians to desist from glorying bad people in the society.
The Clergy who made the call in his homily on Sunday at the church, called on Christians to emulate Jesus Christ who had helped those in needs and provided solutions to problems throughout his time on earth.
“Based on biblical records, anywhere that Jesus entered the people were happy and he was a life saver as well as destiny helper through his work and deeds” he added.
Fr Shenge added Nigerians must rise up and speak against the increasing rate of social vices and evil going on in the country.
He said that the society should always condemn bad things and people openly to serve as a way of discouraging the perpetrators.
He said that keeping mute over the bad things going on in the society would have a way of re-enforcing it and attracting others to do the same thing.
He explained that instead of helping people in needs and providing solutions to problems, some persons have become wicked and enjoyed inflicting pains on others.
The Priest noted that their are bad people everywhere, clergymen, teachers, lawyers, leaders and urged everyone to repent and begin to contribute to making the country a peaceful place for all to leave in.
“Why is it that people are afraid or run away and even asked questions like; what brought this person here after seeing some of us. He said.
He therefore called on Christians to live a Christ-like life to be the light and salt of the world and be vanguards of a better and peaceful Nigerian.
The readings were taken from Exodus 24:3-8, Hebrews 9:11-15 and Mark 14:12 and Mark 16:22-26. (NAN).
