NYSC Extends Service-Year Of 40 Corps Members In Nasarawa

Mr Abdullahi Jikamshi, Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Nasarawa State says they have extended the service-year of 40 Corps members for absconding from primary assignments.
The Coordinator stated this at the passing out ceremony of 2021 batch-A-stream-11 corps members on Thursday in Lafia.
According to him the affected corps members have failed to internalise the spirit and discipline of the NYSC, thus absconded from their primary assignments.
Jikamshi also said that 1,853 corps members who have served meritoriously had successfully completed their service, would be provided with their certificates of national service.
The NYSC Coordinator in Nasarawa State also regrettably announced that three corps members of the batch-A-stream-11 died during the service year.
He prayed God to repose the souls of the deceased corps members and comfort their families as according to him, ‘They have paid the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation’.
Jikamshi also expressed gratitude to the state government, traditional council of chiefs and the people of the state for their continues support to ensure the safety and success of corps members in all activities.
“NYSC remained steadfast towards ensuring that the youths are availed quality education which was why its always deploy corps members to public and private schools in towns and remote areas.

“We also intervenes in the areas of health, sanitation, and skills to better the lives of members and the public,” he added.
He therefore congratulated the outgoing corps members and wished them well in their future endeavours.
On his part, Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on behalf of the people of the state lauded the management of NYSC and corps members for their contribution to the development of the state.

Mr Lucky Isaac-Yargwa, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, congratulated the batch-A-stream-11 for their patriotism, discipline and commitment to national service in the last one year.
“I’m aware that many of you served in public health facilities, public and private schools and in addition to your primary assignments you undertook programmes and projects aimed at uplifting the quality of the lives of our people.
“I wish to express my appreciation for the free medical interventions you provided in several communities under the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) programme.
“Your programmes are aimed at complementing our efforts towards ensuring that all our people have access to basic amenities,” Gov. Sule added.
The governor therefore promised to continue to support the laudable programmes and activities of the NYSC scheme in the state in the state.
