Niger Govt Releases N1Billion For Payment Of Pension Gratuity

Niger state government has commenced the payment of N1 billion pension gratuities to 178 pensioners out of about 15,000 beneficiaries amounting to the sum of N14 billion owned the state and local government retirees.

Director General, State Pension Board, Nasir Saidu Namaska made this known while addressing journalists during the official flag off of gratuity payment in Minna, said no pensioner will be paid without being thoroughly screened.

Namaska said any pensioner who failed to present all the valid document as required will automatically rule him out of the exercise inline with accountability and transparent honesty modalities put in place.

He explained that the N500 million is earmarked for both state and local government pension each for the disbursement to the retirees totaling N1 billion, noting that they are r local government will start their payment soon next.

According to him Niger state government is indebted to the tune of fourteen billion naira retirement benefits and assured that the state government is not relenting in settling such debt hence would sustained the payment in batches.

Namaska further hinted that the state government is owing two billion naira death gratuities in addition to one point three billion naira augmentation for pensioners that moved from old to the new pension scheme as well as N3 billion for monthly pension.
