Jikamshi said because of the efforts put in by the state governor to stem the spate of insecurity challenges in the state, more corps members have shown the desire to carry out their national service in the state with vigour and patriotism.
“We wish to profoundly appreciate his Excellency’s efforts in making Nasarawa state secured. Your good works on security has continue to encourage corps members to settle down and serve the good people of the state with peace of mind,” he said.
He then advised the 1603 corps members who successfully completed the three weeks orientation course to sustain the spirit of patriotism they exhibited during the orientation course in their places of primary assignments.
He also urged them to carry out Community Development Service (CDS) projects that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people in the communities they would be posted to, thereby transforming the communities for good.
He said these projects whether personal or group CDS, would go a long way in endearing them to their host communities, thereby leaving a positive impression of the impact of the NYSC.
Jikamshi also appealed to Corps Employers to help the corps members settle down on time in their various Places of primary assignments.
“Rejecting them is tantamount to exposing them to many risks since most of them are not from this region. Accept them, utilize their skills, keep them busy as that will discourage them from embarking on frivolous journeys,” he said.
The Nasarawa NYSC Coordinator who warned the corps members to take their security seriously by avoiding unauthorized journeys and night trips assured them of the scheme’s commitment of taking care of their welfare and other needs for a fulfilling service year.
