Former Vice President and one of the presidential
aspirants of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku
Abubakar and former Governor of Lagos State and
National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Monday
met secretly at the Akure airport to discuss plans ahead
of 2019 general elections.
Blueprint reliably gathered from an official at the Akure
airport that Atiku was actually on his way to Ekiti state
on a working visit, but ran into Bola Tinubu, who was
with some leaders of the ruling All Progressives
Congress (APC) including Governor of Ondo State,
Rotimi Akeredolu in preparation for the July Ekiti state
governorship elections.
The dependable source said both Tinubu and Atiku
quickly excussed themselves into a private meeting
where no third party was allowed to be part of the
discussion.
The source said: “I actually saw the two leaders having
meeting at the airport but nobody was allowed to move
close to them not to talk of know the content of their
chat.”
On Atiku’s entourage was former Governor of Ogun
state and Director General of the Atiku Presidential
Campaign Organisation, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; former
Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi; Capt. Yaya
Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar.
For the leader of APC, apart from governor Akeredolu,
one of the APC National Secretary’s aspirants, Kashim
Imam and and the outgoing National Vice Chairman of
APC, South-west Pius Akinyelure, were seen with
Tinubu.
There have been reports that some aggrieved members
of the ruling APC may soon defect to the PDP, believing
that the former Vice President may have a major role to
play ahead of the 2019 general elections.
