Priest Shot By Herdsmen in Taraba Was Among Catholics That Protested Last Week

A tweet by Deji Adeyanju claims that the Catholic priest who was shot today by Fulani Herdsmen during an attack on a seminary in Taraba was among those who protested last week calling President Buhari to act or resign over incessant killings perpetrated by the herdsmen.

Deji Adeyanju tweeted:

”The priests just shot in Taraba by Herdsmen were the clergymen that led the last Wednesday Catholic protest calling on president Buhari to act or resign.”

There was a report that men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have this morning attacked a seminary in Jalingo, Taraba state. The attack leaves many of the students injured while a Catholic priest was shot on the leg. Cars parked in the seminary were destroyed during the attack.

The recent development was disclosed via a WhatsApp message by the Director of Caritas Nigeria, an agency of the Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Bassey.

Father Bassey wrote:

“Please Fr., pray for us. Our minor seminary in Jalingo has just been attacked by the Fulani, some students are injured, some cars destroyed, two priests beaten and one shot on the leg. They are currently receiving treatment at FMC.”

Most of the injured students are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center in Makurdi.
