Unfavorable Weather Conditions Was My Biggest Challenge In Flying School- Ombugadu

A female private pilot, Mary Ombugadu has said that her greatest challenge when she was at the flying school remain unfavorable weather conditions.

Ombuhadu who is the first female pilot from Nasarawa State, North Central Nigeria said this was because when one is ready for a check ride and is grounded for a couple of days due to weather, it almost always meant you would do a review flight with your flying instructor before eventually going once the check flight, believing the waiting may have gotten you rusty, thereby extending the period of your training.

Mary who is the first from the family of five, said “I overcome that by using the waiting period to study my course handbooks.

“I am Ombugadu Mary Abye, a daughter of Engineer Akawu Ombugadu Boka and Mrs. Anna Ombugadu, from Nasarawa Eggon Local government, Mada Station – Ikka Wangibi. I am the first of five children, I have two brothers and two sisters”.

Mary who started her primary education at the Eliztor private school Barkin Ladi, later went to St.Louis College Jos for her secondary education, urge young people to always believe in their dreams.

According to her, “You are the owner of your vision, so do not sit around getting upset when people do not see things from your perspective but patiently explain, help them to understand so they can invest in you.

“I am a commercial pilot. I work for a private airline, providing scheduled and charter services across Nigeria, based in Lagos. I attended Eliztor Private School Barkin Ladi, St. Louis College Jos and the foremost Nigeria College of Aviation Technology, Zaria (Kaduna State), where I enrolled into the standard pilot course, SP-25.

“You can be anything you want and achieve all your dreams. Decide what you want early in life, go for it and you can have it. It is never too late to start over again should you fall out of love with what you are doing currently. It is a world of opportunities out here.

You cannot change where you have been, the past, but can most certainly change where you are going, the future”.
