Wabba , Oshiomhole, Omar For ITUC-AFRICA Award In Kenya 

The Immediate past president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba, his predecessor Abdulwaheed Omar and former president of the Congress Adams Oshiomhole  would be honour during the 5th Ordinary Congress of the African Regional office of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC-AFRICA).

The event which is holding in Nairobi, Kenya between 28th and 30 November 2023 is under the central theme: “AMKA, Africa!”. 

Sources at the ITUC-AFRICA office in Lome told Peoplereporters the award for Comrade Wabba is for his contribution to the growth and development of the trade Unions in Africa and the world in general.

Also, the sources said Wabba contributed to emergence of a first African as the Director General of ILO.

For Abdulwaheed Omar, the award is for his contributions to African trade unions in solidarity with Somalia , Sierra Leone and Liberia.

For Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the award is for his instrumental to the merger of ICFTU-Afro and Democratic Organization of African Workers’ Trade Unions (DOAWTU) to formed ITUC-AFRICA in 2007.

According to a letter addressed to the recipients and signed by the General Secretary of ITUC-AFRICA 

Kwasi Adu-Amankwah reads”The Congress will be preceded by a number of pre-Congress activities that will be held on 27 November 2023; information on which will be communicated later.”.
