The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has kicked against the puported sacked of some members of the union in Nasarawa state for participating in the ongoing strike.
The National President of the union, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu while reacting to the incident, said though the national headquarters of JUSUN planned to Storm Lafia, in solidarity protest with her Members in the state but put the action on hold after a meeting with Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura who promise to intervene on the matter.
Marwan Mustapha who is also the president of Confederation of African Judiciary Workers Union, said the union though are fully in support of the action by her members in Nasarawa state, but the planned solidarity protest is suspended as a Mark of respect for Governor who said he heard the workers side of the story for the first time.
According to Comrade Marwan, ” for the avoidance of doubt, the strike by Judiciary Workers in the state is legitimate, because necessary due process was followed as well as notices of strike was saved to the management”.
The Union president further urge members in the state to remain calm, resolute against the management intimidations, harassment of members over the ongoing action.
He also tasked all JUSUN members in the state to stay at home as directed by the Congress , pending further instructions on the matter.
“I urged JUSUN members across Nasarawa state to remain calm on the resolved by the Management to sustained intimidation rather than dialoguing with the view of ending crisis. The planned solidarity protest with our members in the state has been put on hold pending the outcome of the governor intervention.
“Myself and the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Ayuba Wabba met with the Governor of Nasarawa state, Umaru Tanko Almakura, his deputy Silas Agara and the Secretary to the state government, Barr Mohammed Abdullahi and briefed him on the issues on contention, after hearing our side of the the story, the Governor said he is just hearing our side of the story and promised to intervene on the matter”.
