The National Union of Postal and Telecommunications Employees (NUPTE) may pickets’ courier companies operating in Nigeria tomorrow (Thursday) over their inability to allow plant by plant negotiation with the union. The companies are Fidex, Courier plus, Tranex, UPS, and DHL.
According to a letter addressed to the chairman of Nigeria International Air Courier Association (NIACA) Mr. Ozoude Ralph, the Union threatened to embark on an industrial action should the management of the courier companies fail to allow the plant by plant negotiation.
The letter which was signed by Comrade Jacob Eneji on behalf of the General Secretary of the union also copied to the Managing Directors of the all the companies gave April 24, 2019, midnight as the deadline.
The letter reads “at the just concluded National Administrative Council meeting (NAC), held at the National Secretariat Office House Number 63, Festrol/Yemokeen Estate, Gudu, Lokogoma District, Abuja on 3rd April on the plant by plant collective bargaining agreements.
“That the union’s request for Plant by Plant Negotiation as requested by our members is still paramount. That the above issue is given a rapt attention on or before April 24, 2019 to enable the Union forges ahead with the 2019 Negotiations process.
“That the union will not entertain delay of this process, also the union is desirous to maintain industrial harmony however, failure to comply with the National Administrative Council’s resolutions will compel the Union to embark on an industrial action”.
