Following the expiration of the 21 days ultimatum given to Niger state government by organized labour, Civil Servants in the state have been directed to proceed on an indefinite strike from today, Tuesday February 4 , 2020.
A statement jointly signed by state Chairman of NLC Comrade Yakubu Garba as well as that of Trade Union Congress Comrade Tanimu Yunusa and made available to our correspondent, indicate that the showdown is to press home civil servant’s demands from the state government.
It maintained that the strike shall be comprehensive and will continue until Niger state government addresses all lingering issues.
Yearning of the civil servants according to the statement, include immediate implementation of thirty thousand naira National Minimum Wage its consequential adjustment in addition to accrued arrears to all category of workers in both the state and local government areas.
Others are demonstration of clear commitment to pension policy and administration as well as the recuperating of funds allegedly embezzled by previous administration and resumption for 2019 payment of all outstanding annual leave grants.
In that regard, Civil Servants are urged to be law abiding and to remain at home and await further directive from the organised labour.
