Nigerians have called on the Federal Government through its relevance agencies to make available steady power supply in the country.
The power situation according a cross section of Nigerians who spoke to PeopleReporters said they are without light for days, weeks and months depending on the locations.
They further told PeopleReporters that the situation is pushing Small Scale Businesses to shut down.
In areas like Idu, Kuje, Mpape, Bwari, Daki Biyu Jabi and Gwarinpa all in the FCT, the residents are calling for urgent action to address the outage.
They also accused the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) of deliberately refusing to metered the customers, thereby bringing outrageous bill through Estimated Billing System.
According to them, Our monthly bills are ranging from N5000, N10.000, and N20. 000 respectively, depending on the area.
“we are paying for darkness, we don’t see light, sometimes up to twice in a month. Sometimes the light is rationing. We are asking Federal Government to give us light, we cannot continues to pay for light when we are not getting it. Also we need meters, if they can’t meter customers, they should stop bringing outrageous bill”.
Also in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, the situation is still the same, as customers complain of not having light for weeks.
