A First Class Paramount Traditional Ruler of the Mada Nation, the Chun-Mada, Mr. Samson Gamu Yare has tasked youths in Nasarawa State to be vanguard of peace and unity for the overall development of the state.
The Chun-Mada who threw the challenge while hosting the leadership of both the Mada and Eggon Youth Associations in his palace in Akwanga, said as pillars of every society, their (youths) attention should be on how to promote and encourage cordiality among the device ethnic nationalities in the state.
“The idea which most youths are seen aimlessly roaming on the streets, claiming there is nothing to do is wrong.
“They should go out there and find something productive doing to improve their liveslihood, aid their families and develop their communities.”
He urged the youths to be promoters of peace in all circumstances for the growth and development of the state and the country at Large.
The traditional ruler also explained that, no society can developed without peaceful coexistence among the people and reminded the youth on the need to be vanguard of peace in their communities, the state and the country as a whole, adding that what peace cannot give violence can’t either.
The Chun-Mada however, attributed the spate of violence in the society to the activities of youth restiveness, and blamed the situation to lack of serious consideration to the education of the younger generation by the powers that be, and called for change in attitude and policies implementation.
“For instance, the nomadic education introduced by the government in 1975-1976 are in comatose. If the nomads have been adequately educated, some of them wouldn’t be carrying arms against their fellow human being.
“As well as killing and embarking on all forms of evil tendencies that posed a danger on our societies today.”
The chun mada cautioned youth against taking laws into their hands, saying that vengeance is what further propels crisis, and advised the youth to always seek ways of resolving crisis amicably.
National president of Eggon Youth Movement, Comrade Daniel Yaro Anyuabuga who led the delegation to the palace of the Chun Mada, said they were in the palace to identify with the mada nation over the recent attack on their people.
While assuring the Chun-Mada of their support at all times to the traditional institutions, saying that as youth they are committed to every course that would entrench peace, unity and progress in the state.
